Star Wars, Positive Thinking and Weight Loss

annettebray2.jpgWhen Luke Skywalker was asked to raise his sunken starfighter from the swamps with the power of his mind alone he told Yoda he would try.

"No," scolded Yoda. "Do, or do not. There is no try."

Luke did not believe the Force could lift such a massive object. He was proven wrong when Yoda telekinetically lifted the fighter and placed it on dry land.

Again, Luke was incredulous -- he did not believe. That is why he failed.

Now, the lesson here is obvious.

When you learn something new, let yourself believe that you will do it.

Don't say "I'll try."

Do! Or do not!

When Luke claimed that moving the starfighter wouldn't be as easy as moving a pile of rocks Yoda said, "you must unlearn what you have learned."

You see, learning something new is really about UNlearning.

If you've learned how to master, say, the art of moving rocks, then the next challenge which has nothing to do with rocks might seem difficult.

In fact, you might just want to keep moving rocks instead of learning that new thing.

Not good.  Not an effective way to lose weight - if we do what we always did, we get what we always got.

So achieving lasting weight loss may be new, it may be something you haven't felt able to achieve in the past.  Have you been putting it off because you don't believe it is possible?

Have you put it off because it's something you'd like to "try" to do?

You can't learn it all before you take the first step.

So take one small step towards weight loss.  Seek support to unlearn what you have learnt about dieting - Stuff the Diet! and achieve LASTING weight loss.
